A square mile of temples, lanes and cafes, wrapped in a moat.
The mountain temple that watches over the city, founded in 1383. A staircase of 306 steps, flanked by naga serpents, leads to a golden chedi and a wide view. Red songthaews run up from the city.

A huge brick chedi begun in 1391 and partly brought down by an earthquake in 1545. It once housed the Emerald Buddha that now sits in Bangkok.
