Advertising & sponsorship policy

Sidestreet Guides publishes city guides and a travel-services directory. This page explains how commercial relationships are identified so readers can distinguish research from paid visibility.
Independent editorial selections
A business can appear in an independent guide without buying a placement. Inclusion is based on the visitor need and the published information described in the guide. Payment does not buy an editorial score, an “overall best” award or an unsupported claim about service quality. No customer-review score is invented.
Sponsored placements
Paid directory placements are labelled “Sponsored · Paid placement” and displayed separately from independent listings. Sponsored destination links use the sponsored link attribute. The placement must identify a real business, a relevant service and an agreed display period; publication follows confirmation of those details. A paid placement is not a guarantee of availability, safety or quality.
Affiliate links and hosted visits
If a link earns the publisher a commission, that relationship must be disclosed near the link. If a visit, product or service is provided to support a guide, that relationship must be explained in the relevant article. An undisclosed affiliate relationship must not be presented as independent research.
Google advertising
Google advertising is not currently enabled on the website. Google may choose the advertisements it displays; an ad is not an endorsement by Sidestreet Guides. We do not ask readers to click advertisements to support the website, offer rewards for clicks or place advertisements where they can be mistaken for navigation.
Privacy and consent
Read our privacy policy for planned Google advertising cookies and personalisation controls. Before advertising starts, the applicable advertising consent messages must be configured and tested. The separate Analytics preferences control governs analytics only.
Business enquiries and concerns
Businesses can use the advertising enquiry page to prepare a message about a clearly labelled placement. The form does not automatically submit a booking or payment. Report misleading advertising, a disclosure concern or a factual error through admin@sidestreetguides.com, including the page URL and relevant details. Our correction process also applies to business information.
