Plan this outing

Separate
Swimming from the land-based outing.
Return
Arrange it from your chosen finish.

Sidestreet’s suggested outing, based on the references below. Time allowances are planning choices, not measured journey times. Check current access, prices and services before booking.

A coastal outing between Bondi and Coogee can be enjoyable without swimming at every stop. Choose one pool you want to research, then decide whether a short walk or a longer coastal section fits your day. A sequence of pools is a set of options, not a prescribed swim circuit.

Use current operator and local conditions information before entering the water. The existence of a pool does not assure suitable conditions, opening, facilities or admission. This guide does not assess the conditions for your visiting day.

Start with the pool’s own information

Check opening, admission, access and the facilities important to your group. Ask about any temporary restriction before making a dedicated journey. Different pools can have different operators and arrangements, so do not transfer one set of rules across the whole coastline.

Make a land-based version of the plan

Choose a viewing stop, a manageable walk and a meal. If swimming is unsuitable, those parts should still give you a worthwhile outing. Decide where to finish and save transport from there rather than assuming you must walk the full coast.

Review the plan at the water

Follow current signs and operator instructions. If the conditions or your group’s experience do not fit, keep swimming out and continue with the land-based visit. A disappointing water decision is easier to manage when it does not remove the whole day’s purpose.

Good to know

  • Read the specific pool’s rules.
  • Check closures before departure.
  • Do not infer facilities from another pool.

Common questions

Can I assume an ocean pool is always suitable?

No. Use current signs, operator advice and conditions for the specific pool.

Do I need to walk the entire coast?

No. Choose a section and a return point that suit your time and group.
